Chelsea Rumoured to Bid for Liverpool Target Mohamed Salah

Attracting interest
It’s all Mohamed Salah all the time around Paisley Gates headquarters and the latest coming in from the rumour mongerers is that Premier League rivals Chelsea are looking to snatch the promising winger at the last minute with a reported bid of £10mil.

With Manchester United hot on the heels of Blues outcast Juan Mata, Jose Mourinho is believed to have targeted the 21-year old as some back-up fire power should the Spaniard move on this winter. The Egyptian, who scored in both legs as Chelsea suffered shock back to back losses to FC Basel in the Group Stages of the Champions League, is now a well known figure around Stamford Bridge with his blistering pace catching the Europa League champions with their collective pants down.

While this smacks of media sensationalism, it wouldn’t be the first time that Mourinho has snuck in and bought a target when their destination looked all but decided. During the summer, as Liverpool and Tottenham fought over the services of then Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian, the posh London club stepped in and smacked both suitors down with a bid – and wages – neither were either interested in or able to match. Although Salah looks destined to move to Merseyside, FC Basel, and the player, could be tempted by a move to the Capital.

It’s believed that the Swiss side is at odds with Liverpool over the asking price for the man dubbed “The Egyptian Messi” with Brendan Rodgers launching an initial bid of £8mil. Media reports have that figure rising to £10mil, the same as amount rumoured to be Chelsea’s opening bid, if an acceptable payment structure can be agreed upon, but this latest development could throw a spanner in the works.

Sounds like Salah now has a decision to make – challenge for a Champions League place with Liverpool, or join Chelsea and go out on loan next summer.

If that was the case then every player would want to go to Chelsea. It’s one thing to get a paycheck and play regularly (and well). If he wants to go and sit on the bench watching hazard, oscar, willian, etc tear it up (which I don’t think is true) then yes, he will go to chelsea. Career-wise, it’s also a terrible decision. I mean he’s 21…he needs time. Might as well stay at Basel with CL football and start every match than move and be a sub every odd game.

He is as good as Hazard or William , different than Oscar. He will not be loaned out neither sit on the bench. Just bcause the price is low , people think he is not as good,, but he is.and will incease in value very quickly.. I have been at both Basil games at stanford bridge and I saw Cahil and Cole could not deal with him. He made them both crazy and kept on looking around them selfs all the time. Morinouh knews well what he is getting and is building his own team , slowly but surely. Good move

Of course he could develop more at Anfield. Of course he would get more game time. However, money has turned more heads than the miniskirt. Combine that with most player egos (i will succeed because I am the best), and you get a recipie for not playing so much at Chelski.

He looks to be an immense talent, but still quite raw. I watched both CL matches when we were initially linked with him and he looked unplayable at times; still not good enough to knock the likes of Hazard or Willian out of their starting places though.

You have more than an entire team out of on loan – that’s more reality and jealousy than a snide jab – and if he can’t find a place in the squad, he could very well be one of the them come the summer.
