Liverpool Target Moreno Happy in Spain and Dedicated to Sevilla

Don’t worry, be happy

Although rumours have continued to swirl that Liverpool are on the verge of completing a move for highly rated fullback Alberto Moreno, the 21-year old has insisted that he’s not sure what the future will hold, but that he’ll happily stay and honour his contract at Sevilla.

If a ton of unsubstantiated reports are to be trusted — and really, why shouldn’t they? — then the Reds have already agreed to a deal ranging between £16mil and £18mil for the Spanish defender. Earlier in the week, Sevilla president Jose Castro confirmed that they’d been in contact with the Anfield outfit over the sale of Moreno, but that they don’t need to sell considering their economic stability. Whether he’s officially on the auction block or not, it sounds like he won’t be too disappointed to stick around Andalusia next season.

“All I know is that I’ve been a Sevillista since I was a kid. My future? I do not know about that” he said when asked about a move away from Sevilla. “That’s a matter for my father and my agent to deal with. I have four years [left on my contract], I am dedicated to play and I’m happy here.”

It goes without saying that those aren’t the most encouraging words for Kopites anxious to see this particular transfer completed. With deals for striker Rickie Lambert and promising midfielder Emre Can already wrapped up, large swathes of Reds supporters would like to see our defensive shortcomings addressed in the near future — something that signing Moreno would be a big step towards.

your not a very good journalist and it absolutely fucking infuriates me to think your writing under the impression that this is some sort of official Liverpool response, which in fact is anything but, all you inspire from moi is to smash yeah fuckin teeth in

They’re encouraging words for me because Moreno is as bad at defending as Johnson.

Only seen him on You Tube but I have to agree. I don’t rate him….particularly at the price quoted.

If he was brilliant going forward I’d want Liverpool to buy him but he’s not. And the way he defends, he’s not good at putting pressure on attackers and gets beat too easy. He reminds me of Johnson so much, except he’s a little better on the ball. Liverpool with them both as our fullbacks would be a disaster waiting to happen.

Take a breath; this is an unofficial site like it says in the title. If you’re unhappy with the quality of the “journalism” around here, you’re more than welcome to forget this little corner of the internet.

Don’t think Johnson is going to be around next season to test out this theory. Moreno really is getting mixed reviews. Besides the Europa League final, where he looked average, I haven’t spent any time watching him.

If Rodgers wants him, I’m hoping there’s something there to merit both the interest and the price tag.

Personally, I’m really not liking the look of this guy. Our defense was run through too easy last season and I can’t see how Moreno would help that. Every time I watched him, he always leaves a big space at LB, premier league teams would exploit that like they already do at RB with Johnson. We need somebody more like Azpilicueta.
