Inter Milan Loan Offer for Fabio Borini Turned Down

Liverpool won’t accepting loan offers

With Liverpool striker Fabio Borini declaring himself “very happy” with his decision to turn down a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers and fight for his place at Anfield, his agent Marco De Marchi has revealed that the club snubbed a number of loan offers from big European sides for the embattled Italian.

The story of his collapsed move to Sunderland and the fee agreed between the Black Cats and the Reds for his services is as old as it is boring at this point, but the 23-year old looked like he was going to add insult to injury by signing for QPR on deadline day for a fee that could have potentially risen to £13mil — as we know now, that never came to pass with his wage demands scuppering any chance of a switch to Loftus Road.

While a player who scored a mere seven league goals last season asking for £90,000 per week seems a bit ludicrous, De Marchi believes the Hoops didn’t put enough on the table for a player of Borini’s calibre. “The player still has two years on his contract with Liverpool and they decided not to consider offers for a loan. Inter Milan and other very important clubs in Europe wanted him on loan” he explained to the fcinternews.it website. “Liverpool didn’t accept and then QPR made an offer to buy him immediately. But the proposal for the player was not a proposal for an important player.”

What an important player the Italian will turn out to be for the Reds remains to be seen. Borini looked certain for the exit door once Mario Balotelli took up residence on Merseyside, but it looks like he’ll be fourth choice around Anfield for the time being. “Now Fabio will stay with Liverpool and try to convince the coach to give him a chance. He is used to fighting for things” continued De Marchi before hinting towards the next transfer window. “I don’t know what will happen in the January market.”
