Daniel Sturridge May Be Sidelined Until After the International Break

Still struggling

As the days turn into weeks and the weeks turn into months, speculation continues to mount as to when Daniel Sturridge will be ready to return to the Liverpool set-up.

After injuring his thigh training with England back in September, and then suffering a set-back when he was on the cusp of returning to action earlier this month, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted that its highly unlikely that hell be fit enough to feature for Liverpool, or for the Three Lions, until after the upcoming international break. “No, I don’t think so” said the Northern Irishman when asked if he’d play any part against Real Madrid or Chelsea before adding England duty will come too soon. “We will just see where he’s at with Liverpool over the next 10 days and then we’ll take it from there. But it’s highly unlikely.”

For what it’s worth, the striker has been keeping in good spirits during his lay-off and has even hinted that his heritage may have something to do with his persistent problems.

“Maybe it’s my body type, maybe it’s hereditary. Both my uncles had injuries, and my dad had them as well” explained the striker in an interview with talkSPORT. “Maybe it’s the Caribbean vibes, maybe I have speed but maybe it makes you more vulnerable because of the fast twitch muscles and the speed in which you’re moving. I am vulnerable to muscle injuries. As long as I continue to work hard everything will take care of itself.”
