Mateo Kovacic’s Agent Denies Speaking with Other Clubs

Not talking to anyone

With Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard set to move to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy when his contract expires in the summer, who the Reds will bring in to replace their talisman has been a matter of debate for some time now.

While vice-captain Jordan Henderson looks almost certain to take over the armband when the 34-year old departs in June, the question of whether or not the Anfield outfit will be able to make up for the vacuum in quality and class that’ll surely follow remains to be seen. The names of a number of top class players, including AS Roma play-maker Miralem Pjanic and a shock switch for Everton engine Ross Barkley, have been thrown around, but in recent weeks it’s been highly rated Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic that’s been the most heavily linked with a move to Merseyside.

That, it would sound like anyway, comes as news to his agent Nikky Vuksan who has gone on record to say that he hasn’t been speaking with anyone regarding his clients future. “I have already explained everything the other day,” he told Tutto Mercato Web when asked about reported interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal. “The future? There is not much to say. I haven’t talked to any club and nor will I do. He’s a Nerazzurri player ad he believes in the club. You may also add that he recently renewed his contract for staying with Inter.”

The former Dinamo Zagreb player, who moved to Italy two years ago, only just upped his contract in January, linking him with the club until 2019 — and he made it clear that he was glad to do it. “I thank the president and the club for the opportunity,” Kovacic said. “They are beautiful things and we hope to continue on this path. I am very happy for the renewal.” We’ll see if he’s any less happy or any more inclined to try new things come the summer…
