VIDEO: Reds Boss “Angry” at Even the Prospect of a West Ham Win

Both Liverpool and West Ham United will go in to the meeting at Anfield on Sunday with something to prove — the Reds, coming off the back of a shock loss to AFC Bournemouth, will be looking to get back in to lock-step with those at the top of the table while the Hammers, struggling for form and loitering around the relegation zone, will try to make up for their spanking at the hands of bitter rivals Arsenal last weekend.

“We will be angry [on Sunday],” said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to the press at Melwood earlier in the day. “But West Ham will be a tough challenger – it’s an interesting game. Nobody would have expected West Ham’s situation in the table. They have had injuries,” mused the German manager. “They all come back to play us but that’s not a problem,” added Klopp, sounding ready to get out there do it himself if the need should arise. “West Ham want the points and that makes me angry just thinking about it.”

With the hectic Festive Fixture period just around the bend, Liverpool will be hoping to get back on track after missing out on the opportunity to slide back in to second place last weekend. Giving up four second half goals, the Reds fell apart at Dean Court after leading 3-1 with the win looking a mere formality. Immediately following the loss, the side flew out to Spain to regroup with training and a bit of relaxation on the cards — something that Klopp believes will prove beneficial in the weeks to come.

“Every person needs a little bit of rest, you cannot push them through all the time,” explained the Liverpool manager. “I never did it before, but especially now in England with this intensive time ahead – it’s really important that you can, if the club gives you an opportunity, to do something like this,” continued Klopp. “We always have the same time together – before training, after training, it’s training, in the hotel and all that stuff, but we are not [together] a lot privately, so we used the time so it was good. Good food, nice weather, all good.”
