After weeks of speculation, highly promising English youngster Jonjo Shelvey has agreed to terms with the Merseyside club and will join the squad at the conclusion of the 2009 – 2010 campaign. Liverpool faced competition from a number of top tier rivals in capturing the midfielder for an initial £1.7mil fee. Jonjo is Charltons youngest goal scorer and joins fellow England new boy Raheem Sterling, who was signed earlier on in the year, in the Red’s camp. With the new FA rules regarding homegrown players taking effect at the beginning of the coming campaign, this appears to be a very shrewd move by the Liverpool hierarchy. Now, let’s hope he doesn’t shit the bed.
