Sturridge May Miss Wigan Trip

Danny got banged up
Liverpool’s attempted assault on the top four took another hit today with news that Daniel Sturridge be unable to make the trip to the DW Stadium to face Wigan on Saturday. Barring last week’s Europa League heroics, the Reds attack hasn’t looked much better than mediocre without the England man providing an outlet for strike partner Luis Suarez’s genius.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers told the official website that Daniel took a knock and will need to be assessed over the next 48 hours before a decision will be made. With Fabio Borini on the injured list for the remainder of the season and Raheem Sterling suffering from a loss of zip, Rodgers may be forced to look to new boy Philippe Coutinho to get the ball rolling. The former Inter Milan playmaker has shown some encouraging signs since landing on Merseyside during the winter transfer window and if Sturridge does miss out through injury, he could prove to be a valuable asset when the Reds eventually run out of ideas.

Lets hope he makes the Wigan game as we are a potent team with Sturridge & Suarez upfront
