Liverpool Confirm Aly Cissokho Loan Deal

Welcome to Anfield Aly

We all knew that it’s been coming for awhile, but the News Desk can now confirm that Liverpool have completed their fifth signing of the summer with the capture of Aly Cissokho on a season long loan from Spanish side Valencia CF.

The 25-year old has been brought in to provide competition for Jose Enrique with the Spaniard looking increasingly complacent as the Reds only senior left back. Cissokho, who previously played at Anfield during former club Lyon’s 2-1 Champions League victory in October 2009, previously spoke of his admiration for the Merseyside club in the build-up to Liverpool opening talks with the Spanish club and following his completion of a medical at Melwood, is looking forward to working with his new boss, Brendan Rodgers. “I can learn from my new manager, get to know the new style of play here, familiarize myself with different opposition teams and learn the language. It’s going to be a great experience for me, and of course playing for the club for the first time is something I’m excited about” said the Frenchman during talks with the official website.

Liverpool has been looking to add quality and depth to their squad as Rodgers tries to navigate his side back into the Champions League and Cissokho, who will wear the number 20, brings with him a wealth of experience having played in the competition with three different clubs: Porto, Lyon and Valencia. The Reds reportedly have the option to make the loan permanent for only £4mil at the end of the season should the French fullback live up to expectations at Anfield; here’s to hoping that he does just that.
