Chelsea Reportedly Reject Liverpool Loan Offer for Juan Mata

This can’t be right…
It was just a few minutes ago that the News Desk was talking about one unwanted Chelsea attacker, now we have to switch our attentions to another, less realistic one, with reports coming in that the Blues have rejected an offer from Liverpool to take Juan Mata on loan.

It’s all a bit mind boggling really; with rather reputable sources discussing a possible loan inquiry for Victor Moses yesterday, the news that the Reds made an inquiry for Mata comes a bit out of left-field. The Spaniards future has been a matter of speculation all summer with the re-arrival of Jose Mourinho casting doubt on his role at Stamford Bridge as the Special One’s selections continue to keep him out of the first team. Following a big money move from Valencia CF last summer, Mata was voted Chelsea’s player of the season with a number of blistering displays establishing the attacker as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League.

Following the Blue’s stalemate at Old Trafford yesterday, Mourinho was quick to point out that the Spaniard would not be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, but speculation will continue to mount as long as he remains on the bench. Tottenham are known to be keen admirers of his talents, though a move is unlikely to materialize with Chelsea not wanting to strengthen a potential title challenger – which is exactly where Liverpool come in. The Reds had previously tried to sign Mata during his time in Spain and with Brendan Rodgers looking for a player to free up Philippe Coutinho for a more central role, the dynamic attacker would certainly fit the bill. Though it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing Mata in the Red of Liverpool anytime soon, if there’s any truth to this report, it’s nice to see that we’re in the very least messing with our rivals off-field. Stay tuned as we lodge a bid for Wayne Rooney.…
