Sturridge, Sakho and Moses Start Against Swansea, Agger Misses Out

Live text updates on the official site
There have been questions for the last two weeks whether or not Daniel Sturridge would be fit enough to face Swansea tonight after missing both of England’s World Cup Qualifiers, but word coming from the Liberty Stadium is that he’ll be in the starting eleven – along with two new faces.

Former PSG defender Mamadou Sakho is set to partner Martin Skrtel in the heart of the Reds defense and on-loan winger Victor Moses will join Philippe Coutinho on the opposite flank as he makes his first appearance for the Reds since his deadline day switch from Chelsea. Daniel Agger is absent after suffering a knock on Sunday, though there’s no concern for his long term fitness. Steven Gerrard, Lucas and Jordan Henderson all keep their places in the middle of the park while, as expected, Andre Wisdom takes the place of the injured Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique occupies the other fullback position. There are no changes between the pipes as Simon Mignolet keeps his place in the squad.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has named a strong squad despite their upcoming trip to Valencia with ex-Red Jonjo Shelvey joining Michu and Leon Britton in the midfield while Wilfried Bony is flanked by Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge in attack. At the back, they’ve got Angel Rangel and Ben Davies on either side and Chico Flores partnering Welshman Ashley Williams in the center. Michel Vorm, as expected, will backstop the Jacks tonight.

While the visitors look to rack-up a record fourth win in a row since dispatching Stoke on the opening day of the season, Swansea are looking to build on their 2-0 win over West Bromwhich Albion after dropping their first two matches of the campaign. Drop by later on this evening for a full reaction of tonight’s proceedings.
