VIDEO: Martin Skrtel Scores an Own Goal and Gets Trolled by a Teammate

Martin Skrtel may have finally found his way back into Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers good graces, but it’s been a tough couple of days for the Slovakian center half. Although his Slovakia side had no chance of qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil next summer, regardless of the circumstances, no one ever wants to score an own goal — but the Slovak hardman was a victim of an unfortunate goalkeeping error that left the defender seeing red.

It looked like the same time of routine back pass that Skrtel would make at least five times to Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, but without the Belgian between the sticks, Slovakian ‘keeper Jan Mucha let the ball slip under his foot and give the defender the dubious honor of scoring a very unfortunate own goal. If that wasn’t bad enough, only a few days earlier when the center half was giving an interview with the official website, he was the victim of an epic trolling by none other than Mamadou Sakho.

The French defender, who came on at the break during Les Bleus 6-0 trashing of the Socceroos on Saturday, showed that he had a sense of humour as Skrtel tried to keep a straight face during what should have been none other than a routine interview. As Skrtel tried to praise the newest addition to the Reds back line, Sakho made it almost impossible to stay professional as he pulled funny faces behind the Slovakian’s back.

It’s been widely speculated that should Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers return to a back four that Skrtel will be the one to lose his spot to Reds vice-captain Daniel Agger, but with the back three continuing to pull in points, for now anyways, the Slovakian appears to be safe — despite his terrible luck.

i totally disaggre with that,it was not skrtel’s fault, though he always does that with liverpool,it’s a goal keeper fault, giving a back pass to keepers is better then losing the ball to a opponent..!! what a pity…put the blame on the goalkeeper…ynwa
