VIDEO: Jordan Ibe Goes Solo in FA Youth Cup Win over Blackpool

Video by The Mighty Reds

It’s those kinds of goals that make it abundantly clear that we have a talent on our hands; the Liverpool Youth Team turned in a night to remember in a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory over their Blackpool counterparts at Bloomfield Road last night with Jordan Ibe scoring twice in normal time – including this wonderful individual effort.

The promising winger has made the first team bench seven times this season, but last night he was with the u18’s and made an immediate impact as the Merseysiders kicked off their FA Youth Cup campaign. Ibe would be the catalyst for the opener – after a number of chances, he regained possession by the half-way line and the rest? Well, you saw it; a powerful run, quick feet to round the Blackpool ‘keeper and composure to knock it home.

Ibe has been in impressive form at reserve-level and would add another when he got on the end of a precise pass from newly promoted Jordan Rossiter, but the real heroics would come in the penalty shoot-out when Liverpool ‘keeper Ryan Crump pushed away two penalties to send the Reds through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup where they’ll face Aston Villa at Anfield.

We’ve got some serious talent coming through the ranks – Ibe chief among them – and if they keep turning in these kind of displays, we can expect more promotions to the first team in the near future.
