Suso Looks to USA Trip After Committing Future to Liverpool

Looking forward to America

With pre-season just around the corner, Liverpool supporters everywhere are looking forward to seeing the Reds back in action. A trip to Denmark will see Brendan Rodgers side take on Brondby in their first friendly of the summer before a quick jaunt to Preston North End to warm up for a string of high profile matches in America — something that Suso is looking forward to.

The Spanish attacker, who was a target for FC Porto before confirming that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Anfield, will be one of the many players looking to impress the boss ahead of what’s sure to be a hectic Premier League campaign. After showing immense promise during his loan spell in La Liga last year, the time has come for him to do the business in the famous red shirt.

“We have big games in America as well and I think they will work for us, because we have to get fitness and improve as a team. Training and fitness is really important, but games are too because you are going to play games every weekend” the youngster told the LFC tour website. “Liverpool always play good games in pre-season; the games in America are going to be good for us because the players and the team are going to improve.”

The Reds will meet Roma at Boston’s Fenway Park in a repeat of the same fixture two years ago before coming up against Greek giants Olympiacos in their first match of the Guinness International Champions Cup. A clash with Premier League rivals Manchester City and a meeting with old foe AC Milan rounds out the Group Stage of the competition with the potential for one more match in Miami should the Reds come out on top of the pile.

Regardless of how the tour goes, Suso is looking forward to the season and fighting for his place in the side. “What I want is to play for this team” he explained. “I wish I could start every game for this club. I want to be here for a lot of years because I like everything here – the city, the country, the language, everything. It’s really good to be here; I’m really happy, it’s like a dream.”

Honestly, I was a bit worried when Porto came in for him. Thought he’d jump ship…
