Joe Allen Disappointed by Anfield Staff Shuffle

Although Liverpool have maintained nothing short of radio silence since their end of the season review lead to dismissals of both Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh from boss Brendan Rodgers coaching staff, a number of former and current players have spoken of their surprise at the news.

Of course nothing has been officially announced as of yet, but it’s been a poorly kept secret that the Reds are now looking to replace the departed duo. Last week outgoing club captain Steven Gerrard went so far as to ask for a public explanation of the reasoning behind this decision, and this week Joe Allen, who arrived from Swansea City along with Pascoe, let his own feelings be known.

“I’m very disappointed, he’s been someone who’s been instrumental in my career,” explained the Welsh midfielder. “We’ve worked together for… must be nine years, so he’s been a huge part of my career, a massive help to me on a personal level,” he continued. “I’m very grateful for all the effort he’s put in with me and it’s certainly without someone like Pas’s help I doubt I’d be playing at a club like Liverpool.”

While an official announcement from the club is expected in due course, for now, the club are reportedly on the hunt for replacements for Pascoe and Marsh. Pako Ayesteran, who played second fiddle to Rafa Benitez during part of the Spaniards tenure on Merseyside, club legend Sami Hyypia, ex-winger Bolo Zenden and incumbent Academy coach Pepijn Linders have all been linked with the job, but the Reds have yet to comment on this, or anything else for that matter.

I think we’ve identified the reason for his sacking right there.
