Jurgen Klopp Remains Non-Committal Over Liverpool Job

Although the media is reporting that talks between the Liverpool hierarchy and the representatives of former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp have been progressing smoothly, when asked to comment on reports that he’ll be taking over for former boss Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, the German manager has predictably remained non-committal regarding his future plans.

With the Reds hoping to make an appointment by the end of the week, things are moving fast since the Northern Irishman was dismissed following the draw with cross-town rivals Everton on Sunday. Rodgers former staff in Sean O’Driscoll, Gary McAllister and Pep Lijnders are in charge of training sessions for Liverpool’s players that aren’t away on international training, but they’re hoping to have someone in place long before they square-off against Tottenham Hotspur in the middle of the month — though Klopp isn’t ready to confirm whether or not it will be him standing on the sideline at White Hart Lane.

“There’s nothing to say,” he told a reporter from German tabloid Bild when pressed on whether or not he’d be filling the vacancy at Anfield. “Neither a definite yes nor a definite no,” he continued with a laugh, obviously amused by the question. “I’m going home now.”

It’s believed that Liverpool have offered Klopp a three-year deal to take over for Rodgers, though previous reports that he has refused to work within the existing framework at Anfield appear to be unfounded with the German’s previous experience working under a transfer committee during his time at Borussia Dortmund well documented. Then again, just like whether or not he’ll actually take the job, that remains to be seen…
