Return of Sturridge and Henderson “Really Good” for Liverpool Says Boss

Liverpool may have struggled to truly take advantage of their dominance during their meeting with Swansea City at Anfield yesterday, but the Reds came away with all three-points and only a crazy person would be all too upset about that.

“It was good – it was good in many parts of the game,” said Jurgen Klopp following the final whistle. “In the first 25 minutes, we had a good start in the game – a really good start – and then from this point on it was hard work for the rest of the game, which is normal,” continued the Liverpool boss. “We scored a very important goal and defended really well – Simon Mignolet didn’t have that much work to do – so it was a big plus for the whole team. It was a good result and a good night.”

It wasn’t only just good in terms of points gained either — we also saw the return of both Daniel Sturridge, who got a 20-minute run out after shaking off the foot problem that kept him out of Thursday’s meeting with Bordeaux, and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who joined the fray just passed the hour mark to make his first appearance since the end of August, with the pair fit enough to be named to the bench.

“It was good news for the big Liverpool family,” enthused the German with his characteristic charisma. “They are two very important players for us and they’re back in the race. They did well for their situation and from where they’ve come from after a long break with difficult injuries,” he explained, with his mind already shifting to the League Cup quarter-final with Southampton this Wednesday. “Now they are back and that’s really good for us.”
