Marko Grujic Confirms Liverpool Talks, Denies the Deal is Already Done

Although a number of major media outlets are reporting that Liverpool’s interest in Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic has culminated in the Reds sealing a £4.3mil deal for the talented youngster, that comes as news to the towering Serbian.

“I’ll try to respect the club, the fans and the general public, but again I think that for myself I have to choose the best environment where I get the chance to play and where I work with good coaches in good conditions,” he explained, furthering the opinion that he’s seriously considering moving on. “It is certain that I remain here until the end of qualifying for the Champions League,” continued Grujic, refuting reports that he’s already agreed a deal to move to Merseyside. “I had a talk with Liverpool but I did not receive yet any agreement,” he continued, confirming that the Reds have had talks with the Anfield outfit. “I’m still a Red Star player.”

That, of course, runs contradictory to the narrative that’s being peddled. Apparently, the Anfield outfit have agreed to a deal that would see him play at least the rest of the season with Belgrade before moving to the Premier League giants in the near future — a situation similar to the one that saw striker Divock Origi automatically loaned right back to French side Lille after he agreed to terms.

With no completed deal in place, it’s rumoured that German side Stuttgart have made a £5mil offer that would include plus bonus payments for Grujic’s services while Serie A side Inter Milan are also reportedly monitoring the situation. Sounds like the Reds could be in for a fight…
