Mane “Disappointed” with West Ham Draw, Expecting a Response Against Boro

Liverpool will look to halt a poor run of form when they square up against newly promoted Middlesbrough tomorrow night. A shock loss to AFC Bournemouth was quickly followed up by a draw with West Ham United as the Reds lost a step on Premier League pacesetters Chelsea — ground that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be hoping to make up at the Riverside Stadium.

“I think honestly, these kind of moments can happen in football,” Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane told the club’s official website. “I think if you look back at the game then we should have won, because we created many chances and scored two goals, but [also] conceded two. I think we are on a good way and we will try to do our best for the next game and to win it,” continued the Senegal international. “Everybody was a little bit disappointed, because we should have won the game. But don’t forget we have many games so we have to concentrate and focus on the next ones and try to win. I know it was not easy for us, but it can happen in football.”

The former Southampton man may have put in a good showing on Sunday, but the teams stuttering form has been a cause for concern among the Liverpool faithful. Although they’re still holding strong in a Champions League spot, the pressure they were building on the Blues has waned with Antonio Conte’s side registering an impressive 9-wins on the hop while Klopp has seen his side drop 5-points in their last two outings. That may be enough to derail some teams, but Mane isn’t losing faith.

“We are football professionals, we know this kind of moment can happen. I think it’s normal – in the dressing room everybody is quite the same,” explained the Senegalese hit-man. “We have another important game on Wednesday, so at the moment everybody is looking forward to this game. We will do our best to win. What I’m expecting now is to go there and win the game,” added Mane, keeping a positive attitude. “For us that’s the most important thing and we’ll try our best to do it.”
