Klopp Reiterates Transfer Plans, No Comment on Draxler Speculation

Every day there’s a new story about Liverpool being interested in this player or that, but in typical Jurgen Klopp fashion, the Reds boss was in no mood to play into the media circus that surrounds the transfer window and when asked about his plans for January, he just reiterated what he said in November.

“I think I have said one or two times, if there is something for us that makes sense and is possible, because there are other clubs, then it’s what we always do,” explained the German manager, refusing to talk names. “I can say we don’t want to convince players with money. We want to have players ready to develop,” added Klopp, toeing the party line. “We have already very good players, and if somebody wants to be a part of this team then they’re very welcome.”

With Sadio Mane off to the Africa Cup of Nations next month, speculation has been rife that Liverpool will look to reinforce their attacking options when the window opens. Now, there’s been a whole host of players linked with the Anfield outfit with the names of Borussia Dortmund wonder-kid Christian Pulisic and under utilized Inter Milan hit-man Gabigol regularly being tossed around, but over the last couple of days the Reds have been linked with an interest in Wolfsburg playmaker Julian Draxler. Although he’s being tipped to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain, nothing has been agreed quite yet, meaning a move to Merseyside could still be in his future — a tempting proposition, but not one that Klopp is willing to confirm or deny.

“That’s the same answer I always give – no comments on transfers or names”, said the Liverpool manager when asked if the club were looking to sign the 23-year old and whether or not he’d be the kind of player he’d want at Anfield. “So, nothing to say on something like this.”
