After a hard fought battle with cancer, former Liverpool defender Miki Roque has passed away at the age of 23. Signed at only 17 years old by former boss Rafa Benitez as part of his new Spanish Armada, the youngster spent 4 years on Merseyside and made a memorable appearance in the Champions League against Galatasaray before being moving on to Real Betis where he spent a year in the reserves before breaking into the first team. After a routine check up for a back problem, Roque was diagnosed with pelvic cancer. The defender underwent a procedure to have the tumor removed last year, but it wasn’t enough to save him.
Our thoughts are with Miki’s family during this trying time. You’ll never walk alone Miki.
