It’s highly unlikely that at this point you needed proof of Daniel Sturridge’s goal-scoring prowess, but this video just shows that the Liverpool man has been scoring goals — important ones at that — against all comers since a young age.
The Reds striker, who has racked up an impressive 16 goals in only 18 outings for the Merseysiders this season, has been integral in Brendan Rodgers side’s push for Champions League football next season, and in what looks like a glimpse into his future, is featured scoring against Catalan giants Barcelona back in 2004.
Sturridge, a still wet behind the ears 14 at the time, scored the winner as Manchester City’s u-15 squad downed the Spanish champions in the Nike Premier Cup — and once again glimpsing the future — busted out a frantic dance to celebrate.
The Liverpool man barely missed out on becoming the first Reds player to score in 9 successive matches when he saw his side eliminated from the FA Cup in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend. Despite the missed milestone, he still has 12 matches left to catch teammate, and the league’s leading scorer Luis Suarez, in the race for the Golden Boot. Not bad for a 14-year old City trainee, right?
