Following the Celebration of the 96 charity match earlier this week at Anfield, former Liverpool attacker Luis Garcia talked about the title race and the intense focus he sees in the team. He also went on to discuss his admiration for the attacking brand of football that new boss Brendan Rodgers has the team playing. You don’t have to think too far back to remember the sublime bits of skill the Spaniard pulled out while playing under former manager Rafa Benitez.
Garcia, who was an integral part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2005 and the FA Cup in 2006, remains a fan favourite on Merseyside with his song still doing the rounds on most match days. On the eve of Chelsea’s visit to Anfield in what could be a potential title decider, memories of all of the important goals the Spaniard scored against the London outfit during his time here begin to bubble to the surface. Blues boss Jose Mourinho in particular won’t forget them anytime soon.
Although he’s now hung up his professional boots, Garcia remains a ardent Liverpool supporter and can be found on social media expounding on all things Red. We’re sure to hear more from him next season when the Anfield outfit finally return to the Champions League.
