If it’s not one thing, it’s another; while rumours were swirling around that Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel would be out for the next three months after picking up a hamstring problem in the loss to Watford FC at the weekend, the big Slovakian has dispelled that myth by confirming on social media that his absence will be quite a bit shorter.
“After all rumours going around, I want to say the time I will spend on (the) sideline won’t be 3 months. After I suffered tear in my hamstring and tendon I will be out for 6 weeks,” wrote the Reds defender. “I will work hard on my recovery and will do everything to come back as soon as possible and even stronger than before!,” confirmed the Reds defender. “Thanks for your support.”
Having played every minute of every one of Liverpool’s Premier League games thus far this season, losing the 31-year old will be a huge blow for boss Jurgen Klopp — especially with the status of Dejan Lovren still uncertain, Kolo Toure often unable to make it through 90-minutes and Mamadou Sakho only just returning to the starting eleven.
Not to mention their numerous cup commitments, the Slovakian should miss six league matches with meetings with surprise pace-setters Leicester City, top-four rivals Arsenal and bitter rivals Manchester United all on the docket. This, of course, could force Klopp into the transfer market with a the German being heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund hard-man Neven Subotic in January.
