West Bromwich Albion striker Sadio Berahino has been a peripheral figure at the Hawthorns this season after the West Midlands outfit continually rebuffed attempts by Tottenham Hotspur to take the England U-21 man to White Hart Lane, and though the London side are expected to renew their interest when the transfer window re-opens, rumour has it that Liverpool will look to pip them to his signature.
This, of course, wouldn’t be the first time that the Reds were credited with an interest in Berahino with the media linking him to the Anfield outfit becoming somewhat of a January tradition for the gossip mongerers. Regardless, with a bit of an injury crisis going down on Merseyside, bringing in a mobile striker in the mould of the much maligned youngster wouldn’t be the worst idea.
Still, that would largely depend on his mentality. Baggies boss Tony Pulis has made no secret of the fact that Berahino needs a major attitude adjustment, but in the right environment and a with a coach like Jurgen Klopp putting an arm around him, he could very well return to the kind of phenomenal form that generated so much interest in him to begin with. With that being said, Harry Redknapp isn’t convinced and he’s warned Spurs to steer clear.
“They’re talking about the boy at West Brom, but I’m not sure about him,” the former Spurs boss told talkSPORT. “It would be a bit of a gamble. His attitude does seem the greatest and you don’t need that,” mused the veteran manager. “There’s a great spirit at Tottenham, a great group of young players all pulling for each other and the manager has done a fantastic job. You don’t want to take any chances and disrupt that really.”
