A European football giant has submitted a €52 million (£45 million) bid for Liverpool’s Luis Díaz.
The 28-year-old winger has been the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia showing interest. Diaz has reportedly been frustrated with Liverpool’s lack of commitment to offering him a new contract, despite a promising end to last season.
With just two years left on his current deal, it appears Díaz has reached a tipping point in negotiations, with reports from Colombia suggesting that he was ready to give the Reds an ultimatum: offer a new long-term contract or sanction a transfer away from Anfield.
Díaz, speaking earlier this month, acknowledged on-going discussions.
“We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. This public admission only intensified speculation, and with his transfer request now confirmed, the pressure is firmly on Liverpool to make a decision.”
Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been long-standing admirers of Díaz and considered frontrunners for his signature, and now one of the European giants has made a decisive move.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have tabled a €52 million (£45 million) bid. News broke from Germany late Thursday evening with Christian Falk of the BILD confirming reports.

Having previously rebuffed approaches for the Colombian international, Liverpool have a big decision to make now that a formal offer is on the table. The club see him as a vital part of Arne Slot’s plans heading into the new season and believe his best years are still ahead.
However, Arne Slot could see this as an opportunity with the Reds looking to hijack Arsenal’s move Real Madrid’s Rodrygo — a transfer that was potential dependant on the sale of Díaz.
Liverpool and Bayern have history together in the transfer market. Sadio Mané completed a high-profile switch from Liverpool to Bayern Munich in June 2022, signing a three-year deal reportedly worth an initial €32 million — rising to about €41 million with add-ons.
For now, Díaz is still a Liverpool player, but the next move is up to the club. Whether it’s a new contract or a high-profile sale, the Premier League champions face a significant decision ahead.
