Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool has become one of the most talked about topics of the summer transfer window with conflicting reports emerging from Germany and England over a possible move to Bayern Munich in the last 48 hours.
The Colombian winger, who played a key role in Liverpool’s title winning campaign by registering 13 goals and 5 assists in the Premier League — second only to Mohamed Salah — has been the subject of growing transfer speculation and at the heart of it is a reported €52 million bid from the German champions.
However, as it stands, the situation is far from clear-cut.
German outlet Sport BILD, via its chief football reporter Tobi Altschäffl, had claimed that Bayern Munich had made an opening bid of €52 million (£45 million) for Diaz. According to the report, Bayern view Diaz as a priority target and have taken concrete steps toward securing his signature.
This comes amid growing interest from other top clubs, including Barcelona and Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. The Bayern bid, if genuine, would be the most advanced approach for Diaz so far this summer.
However, even in Germany this information is not fully corroborated. Leading German sources such as Sky Germany and kicker have yet to echo the BILD’s claim, raising questions about whether the bid truly exists or if it has been inflated from Bayern’s end as a negotiation tactic.
On the English side, the message from Liverpool remains firm that Luis Diaz is not for sale. Paul Joyce from The Times suggests the club were are not actively looking to offload the 28-year-old and have no immediate plans to open fresh contract talks, despite his current deal running until 2027.
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, known for his accurate reporting on Liverpool’s recruitment structure in recent months, has firmly denied that any formal offer has been received by the Merseyside club. According to Jacobs, there has been “zero engagement or encouragement from Liverpool” regarding a possible Anfield exit.
Understand Liverpool have refused to engage with Bayern over Luis Diaz.
Liverpool have been unequivocal in their not-for-sale stance and rebuffed all advances to date.

What complicates matters further is the growing belief that Diaz and his representatives are actively pushing for a move. Multiple reports suggest that Diaz is unhappy with Liverpool’s reluctance or inability to meet his wage demands in line with his performances over the past few seasons. The notion that Diaz is keen to leave has not been officially confirmed, but the persistence of such reports particularly from Colombian and German media has fuelled speculation that the player may be agitating for a move behind closed doors.
Regardless of Diaz’s desires, the biggest obstacle at this stage remains valuation. Bayern’s reported €52 million offer is significantly short of what Liverpool would even consider. Estimates suggest the Reds value Diaz closer to the €70–80 million range, especially after his standout performances during the 2024–25 campaign.
The Premier League champions are under no financial pressure to sell, and any negotiations would likely hinge on whether Bayern or any other club are willing to table a significantly improved offer and do so quickly.
In the meantime the 28-year-old remains a player for Arne Slot this season. He reported back for pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre earlier this week following an emotional memorial service in Portugal for former teammate Diogo Jota and Jota’s brother Andre Silva. He is expected to be involved in Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly against Preston North End on Sunday.
