Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has hit out at his price in this season’s Fantasy Premier League.
Salah commands the highest price in this year’s game — a hefty £14.5 million — ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (£14 million) and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (£10.5 million), with the price is just half a million shy of Haaland’s record-breaking £15 million value in 2024.
However, the Liverpool forward’s value could well be justified having broken the record for points collected last season.
The Egyptian winger amassed an incredible 344 points during the 2024–2025 campaign, 108 more than second-placed Bryan Mbeumo, and 41 more than the previous record he set in 2017–2018.
These remarkable tallies see Salah sit third in all-time Fantasy points list with 2,119, behind only Frank Lampard (2,318) and Wayne Rooney (2,338), and even an average season by his standards this year will no doubt see him clinch top spot.
Reacting to his price in an interview on social media, Salah joked that his price is too high and named two players he believes should be rated even higher than him.
“I want you guys to put my price down, so everyone can have me in their team.
Now I’m the highest. No, put the strikers the highest.
Haarland should be the highest. Isak should be the highest. A winger shouldn’t be the highest.”
Salah firmly believes that strikers, not wingers, should be the most expensive players in the game and it’s hard to argue with his choices. Newcastle’s Isak scored 23 goals last season, collecting 211 points and placed fourth on the total points rankings.
Meanwhile Haarland, despite a relative subdued campaign, started quickly, breaking Harry Kane’s record of points scored after the first five games, and the Norwegian forward’s 5.8 points per game average placed him joint fourth alongside Cole Palmer.
For all the teasing about his price, Salah still provided managers with a simple reason to put their faith in him.
“Why should they pick me? Because I think I give them good points, guaranteed points.”
