The new season is upon us and three iconic Premier League legends have shared their top four predictions.
Fans and pundits across the world are waiting to see how the 2025–2026 season will unfold, with reigning champions Liverpool looking to defend their title following a fantastic 10-point triumph last season.
The champions have bolstered their squad with £300 million worth of new talent, including club record signing Florian Wirtz and French striker Hugo Ekitike, although also letting go regulars in Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Last season’s nearest challengers Arsenal may have finally solved their striker issues with the £64 million signing of Viktor Gyökeres, whilst Manchester City and Chelsea have also strengthened during the summer.
The upcoming season will no doubt bring surprises, but Premier League legends Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer all shared a common opinion on the race for top four, naming the same club in every position.
Speaking to Goal Fanzone, the trio didn’t hesitate to put their prediction for champions on record — Liverpool.
In naming Arsenal second, followed by Manchester City and Chelsea, the former England internationals see an identical top four to last season, but the reality could be very different.
Chelsea come in to the season on the back of becoming world champions, having won the first new-look Club World Cup in America over the summer, and will be looking to ride on that success through the upcoming Premier League season.
Manchester City and Arsenal have more subdued summers on the pitch, but have brought in key signings that undoubtedly improve their squads as they aim to close the gap on Arne Slot’s squad.
The Premier League season got underway this weekend when Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2 at Anfield. The match was an emotional occasion with Diogo Jota’s family in attendance for the first competitive game at Anfield since his tragic passing on July 3.
Meanwhile, challengers Manchester City open their campaign when they travel to Wolves, Arsenal visit Old Trafford and Chelsea host FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.
