Ibrahima Konate has hit back after being criticised by a Liverpool fan account and the supporters are not impressed by his response.
Liverpool have made a fine start to the new Premier League season and remain the only team to have won every single match. However, Ibrahima Konate has been called out by his club’s own supporters.
Some are convinced Konate is a solid defender, but his refusal to sign a new contract is certainly causing frustration amongst the Reds fanbase. On top of this, Marc Guehi was heavily linked with a move to Anfield at the end of the summer transfer window and his arrival could have seen Konate dropped to the bench.
If Konate plays like he has in the last two games for the rest of the season I'll have no issue wishing him well if he decides to leave at the end of the season, top draw.
Would love us to renew him but feels unlikely.

Anfield Sector posted: “If Konate plays like he has in the last two games for the rest of the season I’ll have no issue wishing him well if he decides to leave at the end of the season, top draw.
“Would love us to renew him but feels unlikely.”
The 26-year-old was seemingly offended by this post and criticised the account for forming a verdict after the defender had only played two matches this season.
He said: “The problem is some of you forget too quick… only after two games.”
The France international’s response has prompted mixed opinions. Some Liverpool supporters have been able to see the funny side of their player calling out the fan account on social media, but not everyone is impressed.
One supporter posted: “This is stupid and unprofessional from Konate. A multi millionaire football player should not be easily baited like this.
“He should leave with some dignity rather than riling up fanbase when his focus should be on the title. Do your talking on the pitch, bro.”
“The same fan doubled down on his initial post and added: “I understand Konate wants £200k/week & has been offered around £150k/week. He’s average & FSG are offering what he’s worth.”
“VVD [Virgil Van Dijk] & [Mohamed] Salah are game-changing icons so got the big bucks. If Konate wants to sit on the bench like 66 [Trent Alexander-Arnold], good luck to him. [Lamine] Yamal will tear him a new one.”
This was not the only instance of Konate being active on social media. He responded with a ‘thank you’ gif to a post by journalist who urged fans not to let the centre-back’s contract situation cloud their judgement.
Konate’s contract will expire next summer and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, where he would be reunited with his former teammate Alexander-Arnold. However, Liverpool have not yet given up on agreeing a new deal and will continue their efforts to get Konate to commit his long-term future to the club.
