The Premier League’s two remaining unbeaten sides face off on Saturday afternoon, as Crystal Palace welcome reigning champions Liverpool to Selhurst Park in what promises to be a high stakes clash.
How to Watch Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Due to the 3pm blackout rule, fans in the UK will not be able to watch or stream the match live. Highlights will be available later in the day.
Team Form
Crystal Palace: Palace enter the weekend boasting the longest active unbeaten streak of any Premier League team. Oliver Glasner’s side are aiming to extend their run to 12 league matches without defeat—a feat they’ve only managed once before, under Steve Coppell back in 1990.
Their 11th unbeaten league outing came on September 20, when goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell earned a 2-1 away win over West Ham United, either side of a Jarrod Bowen strike. The Eagles’ impressive run has also seen them lift both the FA Cup and the Community Shield. In the latter, they beat Liverpool on penalties after coming from behind twice in normal time.
However, Palace’s home record against Liverpool is a concern. They’ve lost 10 of their last 11 league meetings at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool
Arne Slot’s Liverpool arrive as league leaders after a tense but valuable 2-1 Merseyside Derby win over Everton. Goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike proved decisive, with Idrissa Gueye setting up a nervy finish. The performance wasn’t flawless, but it maintained Liverpool’s perfect Premier League start with five wins from five.
Slot’s side are still finding their rhythm with new signings bedding in, but the results have been relentless. A win on Saturday would not only avenge the Community Shield defeat but also move Liverpool eight points clear of Arsenal before the Gunners’ trip to Newcastle.
Late goals have been a recurring theme for Liverpool this season. Six of their wins have come via goals in the 83rd minute or later, with the derby being the only exception. Still, Slot will be satisfied as long as the wins keep coming his team are already five points clear at the top.
Liverpool’s recent record at Selhurst Park is dominant: nine wins and one draw from their last 10 league visits, with the only blemish coming in February 2023.
Team News
Crystal Palace: Palace will be boosted by the return of Ismaïla Sarr, who has a habit of troubling Liverpool. He’s scored four goals against them—more than against any other team except Aston Villa. Glasner has confirmed the winger’s availability for Saturday.
The Eagles remain without Caleb Kporha, Cheick Doucouré, and Chadi Riad.
Liverpool: Liverpool’s midweek win came at a cost. Hugo Ekitike will serve a suspension after his red card, while Giovanni Leoni is set to miss around a year after tearing his ACL on his debut.
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guéhi; Muñoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Kamada; Mateta.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Szoboszlai, Salah, Gakpo; Isak.
The Managers Have Their Say
Oliver Glasner:
“For me it’s important that we are always talking about what we can improve. When we are analysing our games, we see we are doing many things really well. There is a lot of confidence, there is a lot of trust in the players among each other. Everybody knows exactly what to do.”
Arne Slot:
“They haven’t lost in 17 games now so they are a tough team to beat. They have an enormous discipline and intensity. They have 10 outfield players who work so hard to stop the other team from scoring.”
