Trent Alexander-Arnold ex-Liverpool full back has been stuck on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and a journalist has revealed whether he is likely to be back in time to face his former club Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh injury update on Trent Alexander-Arnold. The former Liverpool defender was injured during Real Madrid’s Champions League opener against Marseille last month.
Alexander-Arnold was set for a Liverpool reunion because the Reds were drawn to take on Real Madrid in the league phase of the competition. However, there was a possibility that the right-back would miss six weeks of action, raising doubts over whether he would be fit to make the journey to Anfield.
According to Romano, Alexander-Arnold is set to be available for the El Clasico clash towards the end of the month. As a result, he should be well up to speed by the time Real Madrid face Liverpool on November 4.
Romano posted on Instagram: “Update: Trent Alexander-Arnold, expected to return in action in two weeks’ time.
“The recovery “proceeds well” with Real staff confident for his return after the break, reports Marca today.
“The mission would be to be 100% fit for El Clásico.”
Alexander-Arnold has not got off to the best start at Real Madrid. He was unable to help his team to Club World Cup glory and has already faced the wrath of the ruthless Spanish press.
However, Los Blancos will be keen on getting the England international back on the pitch as soon as possible because Daniel Carvajal is also injured.
Despite questions over Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid, he was such an important player for Liverpool. In fact, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was asked after the Chelsea defeat about whether the defender’s departure has had an impact on the club.
Van Dijk told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s not about him. He had amazing quality but he left us. Last year, we played a lot of games without him as well. Obviously we were all gutted that he left in the summer, but that is not the issue.”
The Reds worrying form is certainly a concern and Alexander-Arnold may be relishing the opportunity to play against his old team while they are struggling.
The international break could work out to be a huge positive for the English champions, because it means Arne Slot can reflect on what is going wrong and make the necessary changes.
Liverpool have five matches before facing Real Madrid and that is plenty of time to get back to a winning rhythm before the highly anticipated Champions League fixture.
