Sam Allardyce has informed Arne Slot on what he needs to do after Liverpool spent £450m during the summer transfer window.
The reigning champions showed they were serious about wanting to defend their Premier League title with a busy summer of spending of £450 million.
Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has been impressed by the deals they have completed and he highlighted one particular signing which has impressed him.
He told the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast:“[Hugo Ekitike], another big player for them. I mean, why did Liverpool buy as many players as this year? It was a shock.
“So you won the league and you only bought one player last year, but obviously this time round he’s gone to the board and said I’m going to need a lot to continue this and I think he’s right.
“But more power on the frontline, absolutely essential. The length and depth the games are going to go into.”
However, Allardyce has a message of warning for Arne Slot because a big squad full of talented players does come with its challenges.
He believes the Reds need to give all their players enough match time to keep them content, but this must not compromise the performances.
He continued: “If you’re not a great rotator of the team as a manager, then you’ll fail at the top level. So you need to be able to keep these players happy and you need to be able to rotate the team.
“When you rotate to make five, six, seven changes, still performs to the highest level.”
The Dutchmen has already shown is willing to rotate his squad, including Hugo Ekitike he has sought to use the French striker interchangeably with British record signing Alexander Isak.
Liverpool’s past few matches have seen one of the centre forwards start, while the other is brought on in exchange at some point in the second half.
Ekitike has made the stronger start on paper, although he has played more matches. Isak’s only Liverpool goal so far has come in the Carabao Cup against Southampton, a match in which Ekitike also scored.
However, the £125m signing did assist Cody Gakpo in his team’s most recent match away to Chelsea.
The Reds might not be in winning form, but Slot will look to his whole squad to get back on track and reclaim their spot at the top of the Premier League table.
