Liverpool have received some good news regarding Rio Ngumoha ahead of an intense run of fixtures.
The modern game of football delivers a never-ending run of matches, meaning it is important to possess a squad with depth in every position.
Indeed, Liverpool still have six matches to play in three different competitions before pausing for the November international break, which is less than a month away.
The 17-year-old was one player who looked destined to play an important role at the club this season. Ngumoha scored Liverpool’s winning goal against Newcastle back in August, but he has not made an appearance since playing six minutes during the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last month.
However, the 17-year-old might receive another chance due to Liverpool’s heavy list of upcoming fixtures. This is even more likely following an announcement from the England under-17s team.
This is Anfield report that manager Neil Ryan has named his squad for the under-17s World Cup and he has not included Nguhoma in his 21-player selection.
The teenager last appeared for England under-17s in May during the European Championship. He started against Belgium and then Italy, getting an assist in his second match. However, Nguhoma was benched during England’s only victory a 4-2 win against Czechia.
That tournament was ultimately a failure as England crashed out in the group stage, although their performance was enough to qualify for the u17s World Cup.
England’s decision to snub Ngumoha is likely due to his recent inclusion in the under-19s squad. The Liverpool starlet made his debut for the side in early September as they registered a 2-0 victory over Ukraine.
Ngumoha can now give his full focus to Liverpool, rather than departing to play the tournament in Qatar which begins on November 3 and ends on the 27th.
The winger could well be given another chance at the end of the month when Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. After all, he started his team’s last match in the competition a 2-1 win over Southampton.
With the fixtures coming thick and fast and Liverpool desperate to find some form, Ngumoha should see his minutes increase again in the not too distant future.
