Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has named the one player that he would back in front of goal ahead of both Michael Owen and Luis Suarez.
Ex-England international Sturridge signed a long-term deal with the Reds back in January of 2013 for a fee of around £12 million, bringing an end to his four year spell with Premier League rivals Chelsea.
He would go on to make a total of 160 appearances during the six years that he spent on Merseyside, hitting the back of the net on 67 occasions in all competitions along the way.
Before Sturridge’s time came at Anfield, the Liverpool attacking line was led by players such as Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen and Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez, who both enjoyed memorable spells at the Reds.
However, in an interview with The Scouse GK, Sturridge named the one striker that he would back in front of goal ahead of both Suarez and Owen.
“With regards to goalscoring, if you say running through one-on-one I’m backing me — I’ll put Sturridge all day.”
Sturridge’s time at Liverpool eventually came to an end during the summer transfer window of 2019 when he signed for Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, although he would spend just over one year at the club.
He briefly transferred to A-League outfit Perth Glory shortly after but would play just six games for the Australian club before his final game in 2022.
