Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler has revealed the four greatest players to have ever played for the Reds.
Fowler began his professional career at Liverpool back during the early 1990s, signing his first senior contract on his 17th birthday back in April of 1992.
He had a positive impact during his first spell at the club, making over 200 appearances whilst hitting the back of the net on over 100 occasions along the way.
After he departed Liverpool for Leeds United in 2001, Fowler eventually made a return to the Reds in January of 2003, signing on a free transfer from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Fowler made a total of 369 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 183 goals and is remembered as one of the Reds most lethal strikers. At the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2007, Fowler would go on to sign a two year deal for Welsh club Cardiff City.
In a feature with SPORTbible, Fowler was tasked with revealing his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of Liverpool legends, naming arguably the four best players to have ever pulled on the famous red shirt.
“I’ll go for the greatest, I think. I think you’ve got the likes of Stevie G, he’s got to be there for dragging Liverpool through so much. I think Ian Rush in terms of his goals. Sir Kenny Dalglish. And you know what, I’m gonna put John Barnes on as well.”
Whilst many consider ‘King Kenny’ to be the greatest player in Liverpool’s history, the majority of fans believe Steven Gerrard is the best overall. The ex-Liverpool captain became an indispensable figure during his time at the club up until his shock departure in 2015.
