We haven’t seen Valencia loanee Aly Cissokho since he injured his ankle only moments into his competitive Liverpool debut against Notts County in the Capital One Cup, but the French fullback is working his way back to full fitness and the man with the second craziest hair in the Reds squad pitched in with an assist as the u21’s put the Tottenham reserves to the sword.
Brendan Rodgers hinted at a return for Cissokho at the end of the international break, but last night he got eased back into proceedings with a run out in Alex Inglethorpe’s side. By the time the final whistle was blown, the Reds reserves put five goals past Spurs with five different goal scorers finding the net and the second one came with a little help from the fullback.
Cameron Brannagan exploited a gap in the Tottenham backline with a clever run, and with a pass that was worthy of an immediate recall, Cissokho chipped the ball with inch perfect accuracy for the attacker to knock down and slot home past the Spurs ‘keeper. It may take some time for the fullback to get back up to speed, but from what we saw last night, he’s been putting in work.
