He may not have been able to prevent Liverpool’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal over the weekend, but Reds striker Daniel Sturridge’s other team came out on top in a celebrity multiplayer Call of Duty tournament in London last night. Prior to obliterating all challengers, the striker gave a candid — and rather entertaining — interview where he expounded on such topics as crying babies, players who DJ in their headsets and not being a real SAS guy.
The competition, held to celebrate the launch of the newest release of the popular video game franchise, also included Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, England rugby player Tom Croft, hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks, Dynamo the magician and rapper Wretch 32. The participants — who applied on Twitter to take part in the tournament — were playing the 10th game in the series, Ghosts and went head to head live at the Indigo2 Arena.
Despite the achievement, Sturridge remained humble in victory. “I had nothing to do with that win, to be honest. I was at the bottom of the team the whole way. The team won the game, so fair play” said the Reds striker. The News Desk usually ignores this kind of stuff, but when one half of your star striking duo says that “he’ll gun you down” and tells other online gamers to “keep the baby quiet”, it becomes instant gold.
