Brendan Rodgers Extends Liverpool Contract

Mo’ money, no problems

The question was always more when than if and we finally have our answer as Brendan Rodgers commits his long term future to Liverpool Football Club by signing a new long term deal.

Re-upping the Northern Irishman’s contract was a no-brainer for both the Reds hierarchy and supporters alike after he lead the Anfield outfit to second place in the Premier League and, as was the utmost importance, a return to the prestigious fields of the Champions League. “I am both humbled and privileged to be offered the chance to extend my stay at this great club,” said Rodgers upon putting pen to paper. “Now we move onto the next phase which I believe will be as exciting, challenging and rewarding.”

It should also be lucrative for him; although the official details of the deal were not made public, it’s believed that the 41-year old will continue at Anfield with both a substantial pay-raise and more control over transfer dealings on Merseyside. Rodgers has proven himself at Liverpool and, with the contract done and dusted, has the full backing of the board.

In a joint statement, Reds primary owner John W. Henry and chairman Tom Werner talked of their delight at having a new deal sorted out. “We place our trust in Brendan to deliver the vision we share for Liverpool Football Club,” they said. This season has reaffirmed everyone’s belief that we can bring football success to Liverpool and we are all committed to working together to achieve that.”
