Liverpool Reportedly on Verge of Finalizing Emre Can Move

With the likes of Southampton captain Adam Lallana and Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno taking center stage, the move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can looked like it was about to fade off into obscurity before German media outlet Bild pulled it back into relevance by stating that Liverpool have made a formal bid for the 20 year old.
And this wasn’t just any bid — it was for the whole £9.75mil that will activate his release clause and force talks between the two sides. With very little to stand in the way of the deal being completed, the German daily believes that proceedings are about to accelerate and that the Reds will wrap up this up quite quickly whether Leverkusen want to sell or not.
Although the German outfit would rather hang on to the player, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has identified with 20-year old as a prime target and they’re not pulling any punches in his pursuit. Rather than try to get him a bit cheaper, the Reds hierarchy have sanctioned a bid matching the full buy-out clause to both hurry the process along and to thwart Bayern Munich from swooping in.
The Bundesliga juggernauts– who have a buy-back clause on the player that’s unable to be activated until 2015 — are also known to retain a keen interest in Can, but will be unable to do anything about this transfer unless he doesn’t agree to personal terms with the Reds.
