Suarez Ban Extends Beyond Football as More Details Emerge

With FIFA’s heavy handed ban of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez still being heavily debated, the South American media have wasted no time expanding on exactly what sort of activities the 27-year old will be unable to participate in.
Well known Uruguayan media outlet Ovacion has made some claims that, if true, will further compound the strikers difficulties in the coming months. It’s a well known fact that Suarez will be unable to play both for his domestic club and international side during the entirety of his four month ban, but along with being unable to train alongside them or even enter a football stadium, he’ll also be barred from a number of other activities that the world governing body has deemed football related activity.
An embargo on appearing in any advertising for Liverpool’s new shirt is apparently one of the many stipulations contained within the ban, and alongside that, he’ll also be unable to participate in any charitable events the club might be involved in. The Reds, like many other teams, have a long-standing relationship with the community and are well known for visiting both hospitals and schools as part of their bond with the city. Same, of course, goes for Barcelona.
Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants, and his new side will face the same kind of challenges should they be successful in their pursuit of the Uruguayan. Not only will he be barred from wearing the famous shirt, but he’ll also be unable to appear in the team photo for the year — or even be presented to the media at the Camp Nou as his stadium ban extends to even non-match days.
Say what you’d like about the 27-year old, but this all seems a bit harsh.
