Lazar Markovic Flying-in for Liverpool Medical?

It’s another day, another unsubstantiated rumour with reports starting to swirl that Liverpool target Lazar Markovic will be on Merseyside within the next 48-hours after the Reds finally pulled the trigger to activate his £20mil buy-out clause.

The 20-year old, who had a stand-out season with Portuguese champions Benfica, has long been rumoured to be a target for the Anfield outfit with boss Brendan Rodgers looking to add the talented Serbian to his already impressive stable of young talent. Although there’s been no official word from either club to support claims of the winger’s apparent travel plans, Liverpool will be looking to make things official sooner rather than later with Luis Suarez’s move to Spanish giants Barcelona progressing rapidly.

A lucrative four-year deal awaits Markovic on Merseyside after Liverpool apparently agreed to terms in principal earlier on in the week. The World Cup has complicated pre-season for clubs all across Europe with players either still engaged in or enjoying much deserved holidays after this summers show-piece event and the Reds are obviously no exception to that.

Rodgers will be keen to get any new additions bedded in and playing in the Reds highly evolving system as quick as possible with the club staring down the barrel of a Premier League season punctuated by tricky outings in the Champions League.
