More Moreno Chatter as Reds Reportedly Make Yet Another Move

How much more can they talk about?

Despite having a £8mil bid for Swansea City fullback Ben Davies rejected only two days ago, there are reports coming in from Spain that Liverpool haven’t given up home of signing long-standing defensive target Alberto Moreno and will re-open talks this week over his future.

The Reds have seen a number of bids rejected for the 22-year old as Sevilla hold out for a fee in the region of £20mil — which is seemingly about £4mil than they’re willing to pay to secure his services. It looked like a deal had been struck on more than one occasion between the two sides earlier on in the summer, but it has consistently broken down on every occasion. Although it’s sounding less and less likely, Spanish media outlet ABC are saying talks between the two sides will pick back up this week as they try to thrash out a deal.

Earlier in the week, Sevilla boss Unai Emery talked about how he was making plans to cope without Moreno if he does end up leaving the Andalusian outfit. Though the much mooted player plus cash deal involving Reds striker Iago Aspas never did materialize — and won’t considering he joined them on a season long loan just a few days ago — Liverpool may be hoping that particular act of good will will work in their favour.

That, of course, remains highly unlikely. The La Liga club seem reluctant to budge from their price and have said on more than one occasion that the Reds will have to shell out the entire fee if they want the promising 22-year old. While the bid for Davies — who Tottenham Hotspur had an offer accepted for two days ago — could have very well been a ploy to try to force Sevilla’s hand, it really doesn’t seem like they’re going to blink first.
