Liverpool to Keep on Spending with Pogba and Vidal Latest to be Linked

As the transfer window keeps rolling, the rumours keep getting more and more out of hand with a number of media outlets linking cash rich Liverpool with a double swoop for Juventus pair Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.
With the sale of Luis Suarez injecting a fair bit of cash into the Reds coffers, the Anfield outfit are apparently lining up just about anyone with a pulse as they look to re-structure following the loss of their talismanic Uruguayan. Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus was being hotly tipped as a target for boss Brendan Rodgers, and although that particular bit of fantasy remains alive and well, ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and current Red Devils target Arturo Vidal have also apparently been added to their wish list.
As far as unsubstantiated rumours go, these are two of the best with Juventus not interested in listening to offers for the mohawked Chilean or the Frenchman with the…uhhh….interesting looking ‘do. Regardless of whether this a bit of a fairy story or not, Rodgers has confirmed that Liverpool are going to keep on spending as he looks to shape a post-Suarez squad that’s able to compete both domestically and on the continent.
“The signings we have made have no relation to Luis going, absolutely – these were players that were always earmarked to come in. We felt last year we just never had the depth and we are in the Champions League this year so we have to ensure we have as strong a squad as possible” confirmed the Reds boss, who continued. “Obviously Luis going gives us the clout to go and spend more and we are getting the right type of player in. But we certainly won’t spend just for the sake of spending. It has to be the sort of player who is going to improve us.”
There’s little doubt that the likes of Reus, Vidal or Pogba would add both the kind of depth and quality to the squad that Rodgers is looking for, but their price tags and wages will certainly be restrictive — crazy Suarez money or not.
