Sebastian Coates Considering Future at Liverpool

Following a horrible injury last season, Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates has found himself back in the side during the Anfield outfits pre-season outings.
“Last season was really difficult. I had a bad injury and after being out for so long it’s great to be back fit,” the Uruguayan told the press during the Reds pre-season tour of America. “I try always to give my best and I know I need to improve more on the others years that I’ve been here. “The manager is watching me closely, like he is with all the other players, and I need to keep performing well.”
Whether or not his run in the side comes as a chance for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to asses his future on Merseyside and the Uruguayan to impress, or if it’s the perfect opportunity for the club to put the 23-year old in the shop window, remains to be seen. Regardless, Coates wants to play next year — whether it’s in the famous red shirt or not.
The signing of Southampton defender Dejan Lovren and their refusal to sell Kolo Toure hints at a less than settled future for Coates, but at this early stage it’s hard to say just what’s going to happen to him. “I would like to stay at Liverpool and play but that’s not just down to me. It depends on the manager and the club. They will decide what happens” he said. “After being out for so long, I need to play. If I do stay I want to play more than I did in the other years.”
