On the back of a strong World Cup run, Liverpool loanee Divock Origi got his campaign with French side Lille off to a flying start by scoring a controversial penalty to hand the Ligue One side their first win of the season against newly-promoted Caen.

The 19-year old, signed for £10mil and then immediately loaned back to the Champions League bound outfit, saw his dash towards goal thwarted by what looked like a clean — and really, quite well timed — tackle from defender Dennis Appiah only to have the referee not only point to the spot, but show the Frenchman a straight red card. Origi made no mistake and finished hard and low into the corner to bag his first goal of the season and give his side three-points.

Despite being in the market for another striker, the Belgian has been sent back to France on loan to insure that his development isn’t hindered. After finishing third in the league last year, Lille will also be able to give the youngster some experience in the Champions League. Next Wednesday, they’ll host Portuguese giants FC Porto in their Champions League play-off first leg.
