CONFIRMED: Liverpool Complete Protracted Alberto Moreno Transfer

No more speculation.

After a summer long chase, Liverpool have confirmed the capture of highly rated fullback Alberto Moreno from La Liga side Sevilla for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £12mil.

It took a lot more time than it should of, but at the end of the day, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers got his man and the Spaniard is now officially his eighty recruit of what’s been a very busy summer. The 22-year old was spotted both at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground ahead of a medical with his new team and even training under the watchful eye of the Northern Irishman earlier in the week, but Liverpool held off on announcing the deal as the final details were worked out.

“In my view, Liverpool are the best club in England and I couldn’t waste an opportunity to come and play for them” he told the official website with a big grin on his face. “I spoke with Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa and they told me this is a spectacular club whose fans follow it in a very special way. “They all told me I can grow a lot here as a footballer as this is a massive club. I’m very happy to be joining a club as big as Liverpool. I hope to give my best and do all I can to help.”

Unfortunately, the Spaniard was not registered in time to be in contention for the Reds season opener with Southampton at Anfield tomorrow, but he’ll be expected to push incumbent Jose Enrique for a place in the starting eleven when they look  to navigate a tricky trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City just over a week later.

Welcome to the club, Alberto — finally.
