Adam Lallana Wants Liverpool to Reach Potential

Liverpool have endured a bit of a tough start to the season, but their 2-1 victory against Bulgarian side PFC Ludogrets on Tuesday night sets them up perfectly for their meeting with West Ham United as they return to league action later on today.
There were a number of new faces in the Reds starting eleven as they made a triumphant return to the Champions League, and though the team was lacking cohesion at times, getting three points was the most important thing — something Adam Lallana is grateful they were able to do. “The win was all that mattered and looking back, we were the only English side to get a victory over the two days, so that shows what a tough competition it is,” the 26-year old told the clubs official website when asked about his first Champions League experience. “We didn’t underestimate them – and they proved why.”
Lallana has looked off the pace since returning from a knee injury he picked up over the summer during the Reds pre-season tour of North America, but as he returns to full fitness and meshes with his team-mates on the field a little bit more, hopes are high that he’ll prove why Liverpool splashed the cash to bring him to Anfield.
“I think our character shone through at the end, getting the goal in the last minute after conceding an equaliser in the 91st” continued the former Southampton captain. “We know we’ve not reached our potential in terms of playing at our best, but with the character we showed the other night, we know we’ll reach that.”
