Adam Lallana Enjoying His Football at Anfield

Back on point

There’s always lots of talk about footballers being nothing more than money-grubbing mercenaries, but when Adam Lallana scored his first goal for Liverpool during the 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion, how much it meant to him was written all over his face.

“The worst thing about football is injuries. Mine came at a difficult time, but I’ve worked hard and there was a lot of emotion in my celebration. It was a big moment” said the 26-year old when asked about his first goal in the famous red shirt. “I’ve been enjoying this week, more so because we got the three points on Saturday and to get a goal was nice. I am starting to feel back to full sharpness now.”

After injuring his knee during pre-season, Lallana is starting to look like he’s getting back to his best. Liverpool have suffered a slow start to the season, but the former Southampton captain has been one of the driving forces behind a new look Reds side and he believes they’re only going to get better from here on out.

“It has been a tough start having been injured but a lot of hard work and putting the hours in, I feel good now” he continued. “There’s no secret it has been a tough start for us. We’ve had a lot of injuries and new players coming into the squad, it’s going to take a little bit of time, myself included. But I don’t think we are too far off it now.”
