Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher Weighs in on Reds Palace Performance

Jamie is getting worried

The blows just keep coming for Liverpool following their tepid defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace yesterday, and one of the hardest body blows has come from former defender Jamie Carragher.

The Reds legend, now a pundit on Sky Sports, was unabashed in his criticism of his former side following their capitulation at Selhurst Park yesterday — even going so far to admit that he’s getting very worried about them. “Luis Suarez has gone, so what? There’s no leadership on the pitch. As a Liverpool fan which I am – I don’t care about being neutral on TV – when you’re watching your own team, the worst thing you can ever think is they’re being bullied and weak” blasted the former defender. “That’s what we’ve seen today from Liverpool and it’s not the first time. It’s being going on all season and we’re saying ‘oh, new players getting time to adjust’. I’m not a big believer in that.”

With the Reds backline looking as porous as ever, one has to wonder what sort of depravities boss Brendan Rodgers would engage in to have a fully fit, and in his prime, Carragher marshaling his defence. Liverpool have now conceded three more goals than they’ve scored and are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top four.

“Liverpool aren’t getting beat by quality – they’re getting bullied. They’ve been beaten by enthusiasm there by Crystal Palace. You knew it was coming. Palace got the equaliser. As soon as that goal went in Liverpool didn’t offer anything” continued Carragher with a notable amount of agitation. We had that last season and it cost Liverpool the league. They conceded 50 goals last season and it hasn’t been rectified. I’m very worried as a Liverpool fan. You’re already looking at players and thinking Liverpool need four or five players.”
